She’s simply Ameesha now. We saw her name appear as ‘Ameesha’ in the credit titles of her latest film, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and decided to check. Since Ameesha didn’t take our calls or reply to our messages, we contacted her director, Kunal Kohli. He said, “Ameesha told us how she wanted her name to appear, and we did it as she wanted. She didn’t want her surname. I didn’t ask her why. I thought there must be a numerological reason for it.”

    We then called up Ameesha’s mother, Asha Patel, who snapped, “If you have seen that she has dropped her family name in the titles, why are you asking me? Please leave me alone.” Her brother Ashmit seemed to know about it, though. But, he too said, “Why should I react to it? I don’t have any take on this.” Could it be for reasons related to numerology? He replied, “If it’s numerology, I hope it works for her.”

Ameesha Patel’s life seems to be filled with magic and pyar. The girl’s boyfriend, Kanav, has been doting on her. When her film Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic released, Kanav booked the lounge at a SoBo multiplex and invited her friends over for a screening. There was wine and cheese, and what not. Those who have written the pretty actor Amisha Patel off, may have acted a bit too soon. The actor couldn't have asked for a better start for her project, where the unit members celebrated her big day, and Patel was surfeit with nostalgia. Ami celebrated her birthday twice on the sets of Gadar which went on to become one of the biggest hits. But then, she celebrated her big day on the sets of Aap Muje Ache Lagne Lage as well. After a long hiatus, Amisha Patel’s career is on the upswing again with Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic. And more than anything, she’s excited about the film because she is going for a complete makeover in this film. And besides that, she’s also excited about the fact she’s doing a film with her favourite actor, Govinda. The duo are working with each other for the first time. And more than her oomph, we hear people on the set are talking about her professionalism. For a 7 am morning shoot, Amisha makes it a point to be on the sets 15 minutes before time with her make up on. And more importantly there are no tantrums even if she is made to wait for long. Although nothing is official as yet, it seem s Amessha businessman boyfriend. Kanav Puri is going places, literally. They first make their public appearance during the Fashion Week in Delhi sometime back and were later spotted together heard that the duo also went on a foreign jaunt together to London a couple of weeks ago.   Our sources from the industry say, “Ameesha and Kanav are very close to each other and are now pretty serious about their relationship. The actress and Vikram Bhatt broke off in January this year and both have maintained a dignified silence about why the relationship has been blossoming ever since. Now that she has also opted out of Shah Rukh Khan produced Billoo Barber, she had ample time on hand, so she took off to London to spend some time with Kanav.”

Yash Raj Films and Kunal Kohli are finally out with the name of their forthcoming film starring Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan. The film is now titled Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. "We just got the title 3 or 4 days back. Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic came by as I was looking for a title that was more relevant in today's times, something that even a lay man can relate to.
The name has to go the beyond the film and should be able to express more. And when we speak of Magic, it's not 'jadugar' magic. It basically, talks about the little magic we need in our lives. Say sometimes you are upset, sad, or down and that little ray of magic works things out. We all need magic in our lives and that's what the film does. It's like a silver lining, it's like the magic of life", explains Kunal Kohli.

The buzz of Amisha Patel being in Kunal's film already gave rise to various rumours of her doing an item number and so on. Clearing all rumours, Kunal states, "It is not an item number. I hate the term 'item number' in the first place. Yes, she is doing my film but it's not what you think. Amisha Patel is doing a guest appearance in the film and it's a character role, which would also have a song. The song is not an item number but a beautiful and poetic song. She would have scenes as well; I do not believe in the concept of item numbers and do not like it being associated to my song. I asked Amisha Patel to do the role because the kind of character I had built, I thought she would be able to do justice to the role. I approached her, explained the role, and told her there was a song as well. What is more important is her role and not the song. When she heard the role, she was excited and agreed to do the role immediately. She basically loved her part in the film."

So what is Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic is all about? "The film is very different from all my previous films. I do not have the same style of directing in any of my films. It's a combination of fantasy and reality. All my films have been different, but none had fantasy as an element in it. The genre of this film is slightly different. Fantasy is interwoven with reality like in Mr. India, Krrish and Koi Mil Gaya. These films have kids but are not directed only towards kids, it could be watched by audiences of all ages. Kids now- a-days are very intelligent and you cannot talk down to them. They have to be treated with respect. My film is an entertaining Hindi film, which is for kids as well as the masses", says Kunal.

The film"s shooting is complete and it is now into post production. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have given the music for Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and the lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi. "The music is releasing on May 22nd or 23rd. It's a complete mix of emotional and upbeat music. The music of my films have always been strong and interesting and SEL have done a fabulous job on this. As for Prasoon, he is extremely talented", says Kohli.

Such is the story of Amisha Patel who was once one of Bollywood's top actresses after delivering back to back hits in Gadar and Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. After a string of flops, her career took a serious dip. But it seems Amisha hasn't let this drag her down as over the last year she has attempted to crawl back up the ladder


with films like Ankahee, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Bhool Bhulaiyaa--all three in which she was appreciated for the most part.

Recently, she bagged Yash Raj Films' next production with Kunal Kohli as the director. Co-starring Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan, Amisha plays a supporting character and is being touted as being the surprise package of the film. She hasn't featured in the film's publicity so far, but it remains to be seen whether audiences will catch a glimpse of her new look once the promo releases this Friday with Tashan.

Just recently, Kunal Kohli announced that his up-until-recently "untitled" flick will be titled Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, confirming speculation that Rani Mukerji plays an angel in the film. He also further curbed curiosity by confirming rumours that Amisha Patel will be performing a sensuous item number in the film. According to Mumbai Mirror, the song has been filmed outdoors and will be along the lines of Sridevi's "Kaate Nahin Katte" from Mr. India.

Kohli says, "Yes, it's one of the most sensuous songs we've seen of late. Amisha's performance has been a huge surprise in the song." After her track "Sakiya" was chopped from the final edit of Bhool Bhulaiyya, it looks like Amisha might finally get her due in the dancing department.
